Integrating temperature data from the CRU into postgre

mean temperature summer( june, july, august)
max tempertature summer (june, july, august)
min temperatures summer (june, july, august)
this would have a meaning for productivity in the northern part of Europe
Mean temp winter (dec, jan, feb)
thermal amplitude (it won't be correlated with other variables)

Suggest to do this in R and then write a new table with proper data in temperatures with columns corresponding to the result, suggest using melt
